 TEMPORARY PLACE OF SAFETY

HIS PEOPLE, N1 CITY, GOODWOOD

In light of the recent xenophobic attacks that have afflicted our city, we are working in conjunction with churches in the Northern Suburbs to coordinate relief efforts.  We have felt it to be our responsibility to open our doors and to establish a temporary Place of Safety for the displaced at our N1 City venue prior to relocating them to permanent accommodation either with members of our church or established facilities. This will involve:

-          Fetching those members of our congregation who are at risk from their homes and bringing them to the centre.

-          We will then using our venue to host displaced individuals while arrangements for their transportation to a permanent facility can be made

-          Those who arrive will be assessed and then relocated to the appropriate accommodation facility, as established by Disaster Management and other Aid Organizations as soon as possible.

-          Women and children will be allowed to stay in our Minor Auditorium inside our venue, whilst men will be housed in the tents we have set-up alongside

-          We have set up a distribution centre from which we will distribute non-perishable foodstuffs, blankets, mattresses and clothing as per the needs of those we are sheltering.
